FREEDOM #15 Empower A Child and #StopChildMarriage

We did it! 'Day of the Girls... Marry only 18+ ‪#‎stopchildmarriage‬ Our story got picked up by several media sources, http://t.co/HhINcqNCGh

My story: I do a campaign "18+: Ending Child Marriages in Southern Africa" 1 year long, that fights against this problem in Southern Africa and Asia.

Why do I do this campaignBecause 14 million children are married off involuntarily worldwide. Being married off is not the biggest problem, because there was once upon a time in the history, a nine-year-old son became king of the country - he got married, although he actually could decide only after the age of 18.

I also know many married off educated ladies who are happily married. One of them was engaged for seven years, but the groom had contact with her only by phone. After the acquisition of her PgD she married and now they have a healthy daughter.

Here, in this case, 'involuntarily' is the big problem. Neither at the age of 10, nor at the age of 14 does not exist a child who has not wanted to choose for school. Not so much because of the learning process, but because of other children, because of friends.

Nowhere is education cheap: textbooks, class trips, college. Not even if it's a public school, or a private one. But there is always a possibility to do maintenance to the primary school, secondary school and if you want to be a doctor or a lawyer, do maintenance to the university.

Sponsor a child in Uganda or Kenya. In exchange, you're going to know when she has good scores, on the weekdays and on excursions. Not everyone is as lucky as you are! + If you sponsor a girl child, it is sponsorship for a whole community: you prospect future teachers, nurses, doctors and business people who would form the basis for the next generation. Parents will be educated, what creates higher incomes, their children will not been married off young.

When you decide to sponsor a child you give them a hope for a better future. Your commitment gives a child confidence in knowing that someone across the world loves, cares and prays for them. #StopChildMarriage
