FOOD #17 The first packagingfree store in Budapest

The first packagingfree store opened in Budaörs, which is unique not only in Hungary but also in Central Europe. It is very popular in Germany and there is a chance that it becomes popular also in Budapest. The little shop called NOPACK which continuously expands its range: after flour, spices and pasta soon also milk, yogurt and oil will be for sale... You just have to take bottles and boxes with you. They weight them and put a label on it, how many grams it is and let's fill it...

INDEX writes that only in Hungary 1.5 million plastic bags  aresupplied a day - every year. I can confirm this information. 2 weeks ago I red a notice in a traditional Dutch store from the European Commission, which is preparing decisions, executive, managerial, supervisory and representative body of the European Union (EU). The EC has set a goal of curbing plastic bags. I guess not yesterday, but a long time ago. This is good news: fewer factory work, many home-based business in the textile industry, which of course requires semi-skilled workers need to be re-trained.

I apply it the reverse: I would not bring cans because bicycle basket can hold up to six cans, but I buy 5 or 10 kilos packagings as if I had 10 children... of course the one that is long-lasting food and 5 or 10 kilos packagings are availale in the supermarket or on the market. After all, almost everything has a bigger version but mainly in the wholesale and taken mainly by restaurants owners.

Last time I saw a sliced mozzarella (Italian brand). Just like the cheddar cheese, 10 slices in 1 packaging. This is good news, because when I cut traditional mozzarella the juice is not trickling down and it is not good for the contact grill... I would say that the big version of products for individuals is not a new thing, Afghan or Pakistani business people regularly sell them to large families of Afghans and Pakistani women or to me who likes to simplify things.

Thus, the chamber is full and it is as such the summers with my grandparents. Shredding corn, cooking jam, felling nuts. I just have a question? When can I get shredded corn? No tiny cans, but a 10-kilo bag. NoPack Budaörs, Szabadság út 88. #NOPACK
